The receptacles used in the PTEROS are built like a tank and so is the custom casing they are installed in! Once in your hands you know you have a quality component and the craftsmanship is top notch. The mechanism accepting the bare wire is of a patented design receptacles offers the best connection possible. The female inputs hold on tight to the male plug without damaging them like so may hospital grade receptacles do.

The casing is very solid in build and back pressure points applied to the rear of the receptacles reduce vibrations that could hamper low level details. The integrated knurled carry handles make moving this device around a charm. The feel and weight of the device is testament to the build quality and is a pleasure to handle when needed. A must for high end systems to achieve maximum audio potential!

Furutech GTX-D(G) gold-plated and NCF(R) rhodium-plated pure copper AC receptacles are the best available on the market and easily outperform the previous best.

The PTEROS Power Distributor needs some break-in time to reach its potential. Plug your components in and leave them on to help burn in. Break-in time: 75 hours (60%), 200 hours (90%), 500+ hours (99%)
The PTEROS Power Distributor is easy to use and will run trouble free with a minimum of care.
The PTEROS Power Distributer does not come with a power cord. A #14 AWG cord (for 15amp operation) and 12AWG (for 20 amp operation) is suggested. Choose a power cord that is fully safety rated by the necessary local authority and your amperage usage. There are no fuses or breakers on this power bar and as such protection relies on the electrical panel breaker. If you have a 15 amp breaker and 99% of all homes do, a 14AWG power cord will suffice.

Suggestions for maximum sonic gains

The versatility of the product makes for an interesting way to test various configurations to tune the sound of the sound system to your preference liking. Three examples are given below.

1. For example when ordering a PTEROS you could have one NCF receptacle and two GTX_D (G) installed in the unit. This would provide the possibility to plug components in different configurations to manipulate the sonic results. Any combination is possible. See Our favorite combination or contact us for some suggestions based on your current system.
2. DC blocking feature could be switched either on or off to evaluate if there is a difference in the sonic presentation in your sound system.
3. Have the wall receptacle that the PTEROS in plugged into changed to a GTX-D (G) or NCF to get the maximum performance gains.

Our favourite combination: two GTX-D (G) and one NCF  in the PTEROS. The source components are plugged into the GTX-D (G) and the amplifier in the NCF. The wall receptacle can be either GTX-D (G) or NCF. In our system the NCF is the preferred setup for the most intimate, direct and lively sound. No hard and fast rules here, just the need to adjust to taste.

Basically if you have a solid state amplification you should consider for the GTX-D gold for a smoother rounder sound. This may also apply if you have a brighter system and want to make it smoother.
If you have a tube based amplification you should consider the NCF type for more resolution and details. This may also apply on solid state amplification which is too dark and needs more life.
Having said that a mix as stated above is excellent.
